Million Years Ago by Adele

This week's painting is inspired by the song Million Years Ago by Adele.

The frame of the painting is inspired by these lines:

To earn my stripes, I'd have to pay
And bare my soul

Focusing on stripes, I love what it's saying.

To earn one’s stripes is a military metaphor—as one gains rank you get new stripes to wear on your uniform—suggesting that achievement can only come from hard work and sacrifice

In the painting, I wanted to focus on uniform and four lines. To me those four lines mean four main things in life: work, health, play and love. This is a reminder that our of everything those are the main things in life.

To me success means having those four things. I know it takes a lot of time to have all of those things but that's what I look forward to.

Everything I do in life is to improve one of those areas and I love where I am and what I am doing. I don't know what an end looks like but I do know if I have those four things, I will be happy and people around me will be happy as well.
