Is it finally time to get rid of Facebook friends?

Published on Sep 17, 2020

Although I'm Facebook only using anymore to participate in a reading group and see which people have Birthday, I don't use it much. I follow one Journalist and a german doctor with journalistic intentions.

But I find myself browsing through the feed sometimes. And sometimes I see things from people I wasn't expecting. Not only images of freshly born babies, which could be cute to some extent, but also many people following the right-wing of politics and more recently people falling for Conspiracy Theories.

I know Facebook won't notify them if I unfriend them. But some of those guys and girls I'm meeting regularly. Not proactively, but I'm living in a town and many others do too. Also, some of them are paramedic colleagues.

The question is, will they notice if they don't see stuff from me anymore? And if they do, will they send me a friendship request again?

It is not that I don't want to have anything to do with them anymore, but I hate when I get angry because some people just believe everything.

I should just remove them. Fewer people means less useless stuff to scroll through and thus less stress and FOMO.
