Melburnians are hitting the road this evening, for a well-earned weekend of freedom. With the temperature on Sunday expected to reach a scorching 33 degrees Celsius, who wouldn't want to take advantage of the "ring of steel" being lifted by escaping to the country.
By Christmas, all of the state borders will be open, and we will be able to travel interstate. I don't have any immediate need to travel interstate, but, I might have to make an excuse to do so, just because I now can.
After many months of lockdown, it feels terrific to be no longer restricted to your own neighbourhood. The freedom to travel is one that we take for granted and though the last few months of lockdown have been necessary, it is great to get out and about.
Though I am not getting away this weekend myself, I will get out on Sunday and have a nice long drive in the roadster. It's time to hit the roads, and this eleutheromaniac is looking forward to getting out.
